Professional Background
Meet Sophia, a Junior Software Developer with a strong foundation in applied research and data-driven problem solving. She contributed to an undergraduate research project analyzing mortality rates among patients with Type 2 diabetes using natural language processing, and later conducted deep learning research at Berkeley Lab focused on identifying patients at risk of sleep apnea to support more personalized treatment approaches. Beyond her technical work, Sophia is enthusiastic about education, having taught mathematics to nearly 200 K–12 students through the ÉXITO summer program, and is a 2025 Hood College graduate.
