Sylvan Learning encountered major challenges with its educational technology infrastructure. The content management system (CMS), critical for building and managing course content, became unusable after the supporting vendor went out of business. At the same time, the learning management system (LMS) relied on locally installed applications on physical iPads at each center, limiting flexibility and scalability compared to a web-based solution. An outdated user experience and interface further hindered Sylvan’s ability to deliver modern, personalized learning experiences with lasting impact.

Content Management System
Sylvan partnered with Orases to develop a modern Content Management System that revitalized their educational content capabilities. The CMS empowered writers and administrators to create, edit, and publish HTML lessons while maintaining their familiar file structure. Content creators could now easily incorporate diverse learning elements, text, images, multiple-choice questions, and drag-and-drop activities, all with built-in WCAG accessibility compliance. This renewed ability to refresh curriculum restored Sylvan’s confidence in their educational offerings.
Learning Management System
Complementing the CMS, Orases built a flexible web-based Learning Management System that transformed how teachers and students interact with learning materials. Teachers gained a streamlined interface to manage students, assign lessons, and record grades, while seamlessly integrating with Sylvan’s proprietary auto-assignment system. Students now access their personalized learning materials on virtually any device, personal, center-provided, or shared, eliminating the hardware constraints that had previously limited Sylvan’s educational delivery.
