Atlas Home Energy Solutions (Atlas) has a mission to help homeowners create high performance homes that are comfortable, energy efficient, healthy, and low maintenance. To achieve this, they conduct in-home energy audits and provide homeowners with efficiency tips so they can save money, make their home more comfortable, and reduce their energy consumption.
Improving audit efficiency
Originally, auditors at Atlas would visit homes to conduct an audit with just a piece of paper and a pencil. Notes were scribbled in the margins with handwriting that was sometimes hard to read. Afterwards, reports would be sent back to the corporate office, where administrators would draft a proposal based on the auditor’s recommendations.
The problem was that it often took weeks for the proposals to get back to the homeowner due to delays during internal processing. Their goal was to automate the audit process and cut down the time it took for homeowners to get their proposals to just 24 hours.
Decreasing proposal time
To automate and speed up the process, Orases developed a progressive web application for the auditors to use during their home visits. Using a CAT phone, they can conduct the audit digitally while on site and automatically send their reports back to the corporate office. Administrators at the office can then download the audit, make the proposal based on the initial report, and email everything to the client within 24 hours.
The application uses a complex web form builder, which gives Atlas administrators the ability to edit the audit form as needed. This means that as new standards are developed for home efficiency, the audit can be changed to reflect those updated guidelines. And with advanced branching capabilities, the app can automatically predict what recommendation should be made based on the answer selected within the application. So, once you select an answer, the appropriate recommendation will automatically populate. This helps cut down on administrative time, since the software does most of the work for the auditors.
Before this progressive web application was implemented, Atlas was unable to grow or hire more auditors because they were already overwhelmed with the number of audits they were conducting each month. Now, the time they spend on each individual audit has been reduced, making room in each day for more audits.
On the other side, administrators take less time to produce each report, so clients are receiving their proposals sooner and the administrators have more time to draft reports. The efficiency of the app has allowed Atlas Home Energy Solutions to grow and generate more revenue annually.
