PTCB Receives A New Website Redesign
Partnering with Orases to achieve success.
PTCB develops, maintains, promotes, and administers a nationally accredited certification and recertification program for pharmacy technicians to enable the most effective support of pharmacists to advance patient safety.
PTCB serves a diverse community of pharmacy technicians, employers, educators, and state organizations committed to providing safe and quality patient care. Their website needed to feel both approachable and also official to the audience they serve who play important roles on the healthcare team.

Updating a legacy website
Last updated in 2012, PTCB’s website was outdated, confusing and unresponsive. It was beyond time for a complete overhaul of the website’s infrastructure and content in order to support our organization’s mission and growing portfolio of credentials. In coordination with the website launch, we also launched 2 new credentials that same day, growing our portfolio by 100%, from 2 to 4.
Our website redesign was the final step of a rebranding project we had completed earlier in the year. This redesign included both our approach to graphic design and content. We reworked all of our communications channels, and the final step was to launch a successful website redesign.
Launching a redesigned and modernized website
Orases created a customized, modern design throughout site. Besides looking fresh and clean, this also allowed for an intuitive navigation and organization of site content. The site is responsive from desktop to tablet to mobile.
To support the promotion and growth of PTCB’s credentials, Orases created custom Credential and Candidate Guidebook modules. The credential module allows credentials to be displayed as interactive cards that are filterable. Then each card links to a page that layout the steps to acquire the credentials. The Guidebook module integrates the Candidate Guidebook into the site and allows for internal collaboration by the admins while editing. It also tracks versions and publishes dates automatically.
Orases also created custom widgets that allow information to be distributed across many pages while keeping the source content in one place.
- A responsive design – Technicians don’t always have access to a computer at work for personal use. We provided a website that allows them to access information on their mobile devices.
- A flexible infrastructure – to allow our organization to grow. PTCB offered one credential in the first 20+ years of our history. In 2017. we launched one more. In 2019, we launched another two. We anticipate launching another 5 to 6 credentials within two years.
- A more interactive Candidate Guidebook – This was perhaps the largest undertaking of the website. Our former website used a PDF of our guidebook, which was not at all user-friendly.
Significant improvements in user engagement
The redesigned and modern site makes it easier for PTCB’s audiences to find the content they need while accessing from any device. PTCB admins can quickly and easily update their site content on their own.
We started with Discovery for requirements gathering; moved into design; and then started development while design wrapped up. The staggered start of development and sticking to a strict delivery of beta allowed Orases to work with PTCB to coordinate the roll out of their new credentials and the new website simultaneously.
